At Cilka Great Danes, we are dedicated to the ethical, responsible breeding of exceptional Great Danes, producing only 1–2 carefully planned litters per year. Our program prioritizes health, structure, temperament, and lifelong support for every puppy we bring into the world. All of our dogs undergo comprehensive health testing, with results shared transparently through OFA, alongside additional screening through Embark. We also implement Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Puppy Culture protocols to give each puppy the strongest possible start in life. We are deeply committed to responsible ownership. Every puppy is placed on a strict spay/neuter agreement and is sold under a comprehensive contract that: Prohibits resale or transfer of ownership; Requires that the dog be returned to us if the owner can no longer keep it; Forbids outdoor-only housing; Strictly prohibits any form of combat, protection, or inappropriate training use. Our puppies are raised with intention, and that commitment does not end at placement. We provide lifetime breeder support and remain available to our puppy families 24/7—because they were our puppies first, and always will be.

The Ranch is known as “Spotted Gait Ranch” is nestled in the rolling hills north of Leslieville, Alberta, Canada, and here the Dalmatians and Wander West Miniature Appaloosa Horses have lots of room to run and play. The Dalmatians are the main focus here on the ranch, and the Miniature horses are a side line and they are the reason why we have to get outside and exercise. But don’t be fooled….we raise some of the most beautiful Miniature Appaloosa horses in Canada. As far back as Bonnie can remember, there has always been a dog in her life, from Terriers, Boxers, Labs, Collies, and mixed breeds, but in 1989 her search for a Dalmatian launched us into the world of show dogs. ‘Echo’ our foundation bitch taught us about the breed and we continue to learn from the legacy she left behind…. We are firm believers that the dogs are first and foremost our friends and companions, so all of our Dalmatians are house dogs having their own couch in the T.V. room. They also have their own bedroom with their own crates. (Blankets included!) Our puppies are raised in our home, and as they grow older, their territory expands to include the whole house including stairs. The puppies have a crate as a bed, thus beginning their crate training. All breeding stock are OFA hips/elbows or PennHIP Evaluation, OFA evaluation based on BAER test, OFA Thyroid evaluation from an approved laboratory, ACVO Eye Exam results registered with OFA, vet checked before they are considered for breeding. The puppies produced are vaccinated, microchipped, Baer tested, vet checked and guaranteed for both health and temperament and we offer continued support to all puppy buyers for the life of the puppy. When it comes to the show ring, each dog is owner-handled by either John or Bonnie as it is a hobby we both enjoy. Dog shows are fun, and we try to keep the fun there whether we win or lose. We are life members of CKC and The Dalmatian Club of Canada. We compete in conformation, and used to dabble in obedience, agility, tracking, and pheasant hunting. Most of all, the Dals enjoy camping or hunting gophers and mice while playing with their human companions on the ranch. Known as the 'Laughing Dog of the Swiss Alps', they are naturally confident, agile, alert, and watchfully protective family members who thrive as active companions. Our journey began in 1995 with a puppy from the first pair registered in Canada. Since then, each Entlebucher who has shared our lives has deepened our love and commitment to these remarkable dogs. While we do not breed litters ourselves, we are proud owners of a male from established European lines, whose parents are both show champions.
