Where to start your BC breeder search

British Columbia listings are concentrated in a few regions rather than spread evenly across the province, so it helps to search by area as well as by breed. In the Okanagan, Kelowna has two German Shepherd programs — Lojack Sport Dogs and Clarknberg German Shepherds — while Traveling Gypsy Corgis (Pembroke Welsh Corgis) is listed in West Kelowna. In the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley you will find Pureheart English Springer Spaniels in Langley, TONOFDAL Dalmatians in Chilliwack, and Gellert Kennel in Rosedale. On Vancouver Island, Coast Mountain Entlebuchers is based in Courtenay, and in northeast BC Crucible Mastiffs is listed in Taylor. Not every breed or city has a listing here, so if your breed is not represented, widen your search by breed first and be prepared to travel or wait for a future litter.

How do I find a breeder near Vancouver or Victoria? This BC directory currently includes programs in Langley, Chilliwack and Rosedale for a Lower Mainland search, and a Courtenay listing on Vancouver Island. There are no Vancouver or Victoria city listings in the current set. Decide on a breed first using Dog Breeds or the Breed Matchmaker, then contact the closest programs for that breed.

Isn't registration enough on its own? Registration records a dog's pedigree with a registry — it does not describe health screening, temperament, how a litter was raised, or the support a family receives afterwards. Review those practices yourself and ask for the documentation behind any claim.
