About Traveling Gypsy Corgis

Purposeful breeding.
Lifetime commitment.

Traveling Gypsy Corgis is located in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

We strive to raise intelligent and healthy purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgis and connect them to their forever homes.

Among the most agreeable of all small house dogs, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a strong, athletic, and lively little herder who is affectionate and companionable without being needy. They are one of the world’s most popular herding breeds.

At 10 to 12 inches at the shoulder and 27 to 30 pounds, a well-built male Pembroke presents a big dog in a small package. Short but powerful legs, muscular thighs, and a deep chest equip him for a hard day’s work. Built long and low, Pembrokes are surprisingly quick and agile. They can be red, sable, fawn, black, and tan, with or without white markings. The Pembroke is a bright, sensitive dog who enjoys playing with his human family and responds well to training. As herders bred to move cattle, they are fearless and independent. They are vigilant watchdogs, with acute senses and a ‘big dog’ bark. Families who can meet their bold but kindly Pembroke’s need for activity and togetherness will never have a more loyal, loving pet.

Breeder Philosophy

How we breed — and why.

Why this breed

I fell in love with Pembroke Welsh Corgis because I wanted a dog that could keep up with me and do all the things I wanted to do, without needing a giant dog to do it. I've always loved working dogs. I wanted the drive, intelligence, and willingness to work that you often find in larger breeds, but in a smaller package. What I found was a breed that is truly a big dog in a small dog's body. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is so much more than the cute dog people see on social media. These dogs were bred to work and they absolutely love having a job. Whether it's conformation, scent work, barn hunt, herding, obedience, or just spending the day with me on the farm, they're always ready for whatever comes next. What really sealed the deal for me was their temperament. They're smart, loyal, funny, and have personalities that are bigger than they are. They want to be involved in everything you're doing and are happiest when they're part of the action. I love that I can take them almost anywhere. They're small enough to travel easily, but tough enough to spend a day working livestock, competing in sports, or hiking a trail. They have an incredible amount of heart packed into a small frame. For me, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is the perfect combination of companion and working dog. They make me laugh daily, keep me on my toes, and are always up for an adventure. I wanted a dog that could do a little bit of everything, and I found exact

What sets us apart

When people ask what makes Traveling Gypsy Corgis different, the answer is pretty simple: I breed the dogs I want to own. I didn't get into this breed to produce puppies. I got into this breed because I wanted a dog that could do it all, and that's exactly what I strive to preserve in my breeding program. My dogs aren't just family pets that happen to have puppies. They are actively proving themselves in conformation and performance events. Traveling Gypsy Corgis is proud to be the only Pembroke Welsh Corgi breeder in British Columbia actively competing with our breeding dogs in both the show ring and performance sports. Our dogs are earning titles in scent detection, barn hunt, herding, and conformation because I believe a Corgi should be able to do the job it was bred to do while still being a great family companion. Our puppies are raised in our home, not in a kennel. They grow up around the day-to-day chaos of farm life, livestock, other dogs, visitors, household noises, and new experiences. From an early age we focus on confidence, problem solving, handling, grooming, recall, crate exposure, novel surfaces, and socialization. My goal isn't just to send home a cute puppy; it's to send home a puppy that is confident and ready to take on the world. I also believe that choosing the right puppy goes beyond color and markings. I spend every day with these puppies and get to know their personalities inside and out. That's why

Homes we look for

Our puppies do best in homes that understand that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi is much more than a cute face and short legs. Corgis are intelligent, active dogs that thrive when they are included in their family's daily life. They want to be where their people are, whether that's going for hikes, attending dog sports, traveling, or simply being involved in everyday activities. While our puppies can adapt to many different lifestyles, they do best with families who are committed to training, socialization, and providing both mental and physical stimulation. A tired Corgi isn't always a fulfilled Corgi , these dogs love having a job, learning new things, and using their brains. Many of our puppies excel in active family homes, performance sport homes, hobby farm settings, and homes looking for a dog that can be a true partner in life. They are equally happy competing on the weekend as they are curled up on the couch after a busy day. Most importantly, our puppies thrive in homes where they are considered part of the family. We raise our puppies with a lot of love, enrichment, and purpose, and we look for families who will continue that journey throughout their lives. There is no such thing as a "perfect" home. We focus on finding the *right* home for each individual puppy. Every puppy has its own personality, strengths, and quirks, and our goal is to make the best match possible so both the puppy and family can

Program notes

At Traveling Gypsy Corgis, our puppies are raised in our home and are an active part of our daily lives from the day they are born. We focus on raising confident, resilient, and well-rounded puppies through intentional exposure, enrichment, and socialization. Our puppy raising program includes: • Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) • Daily handling and individual attention • Novel surface exposure (grass, concrete, rubber mats, wobble boards, gravel, turf, and more) • Sound desensitization using common household noises, storms, fireworks, livestock, and everyday environmental sounds • Age-appropriate socialization with people, dogs, livestock, and new environments • Crate introduction and independent time away from littermates • Potty training foundations and introduction to designated potty areas • Grooming foundations including nail trims, brushing, bathing, and handling for veterinary care • Recall foundations using positive reinforcement and name recognition • Confidence-building activities, obstacle exploration, and problem-solving exercises • Car ride exposure and adventure outings when age-appropriate We carefully evaluate each puppy's temperament, confidence level, and drive throughout development. This allows us to thoughtfully match puppies with families based on lifestyle, goals, and personality compatibility rather than simply appearance. Our goal is to send home puppies that are not only healthy and beautiful, but also prepared to successfully transition into their new homes as confident family companions, sport prospects, and adventure partners.
