West Highland White Terrier

HeatherBee Kennels is proud to announce that West Highland White Terriers – also known as ‘Westies’ – have been added to our family. Westies are another breed originating in Scotland (alongside the Scottish Terriers and Golden Retrievers we have the pleasure of sharing life with). Thanks in large part to the generosity of Dolores Richardson and Dolden Westies, my dream to add this wonderful breed comes true as I introduce DOLDEN FIN’S MINNIE PEARL “PEARL” and DOLDEN INDIANA’S SASSY EMA “EMA”. Our Westies are from European, Canadian and American Champion blood lines!

HeatherBee Kennels is registered with the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) Heather MacLeod is a longstanding Premium Member. Our dogs live, and puppies are hand raised in a loving home with loving and gentle exposure to my grandchildren of various ages from the time they are born. They are also well socialized with other dogs by the time they go to join your family in their new forever home.

HeatherBee Kennels Registered, (find us on the CKC.ca puppy list of breeders) brings over 40 years of experience to the health, socializing and overall wellbeing of our dogs and puppies. Our adult breeding dogs are all genetically tested for inherited diseases and structural soundness, which enables us, with confidence, to place our puppies with their new families and a strong health guarantee.

    Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers According to the Golden Retriever Club of Canada, the breed was originally developed in Scotland in the mid-19th century as a bird hunting dog able to retrieve land and water fowl. Goldens eventually made an appearance in Canada in the 1920’s, where their beautiful appearance, exceptional temperament and their sturdy, muscular stature made them excellent working dogs.

While Golden Retrievers are strikingly beautiful dogs, the hallmark of the breed is their wonderful, eager-to-please temperament. Well-bred and properly socialized Goldens are extremely trainable and versatile. They are employed as guide dogs for the blind, independence dogs for the disabled, therapy dogs and ptsd dogs, and work well as autism assistive dogs. Goldens make superb hunting retrievers and excel in both the show ring for conformation to type, as well as in obedience and agility rings. Most important, however, is that Goldens make unsurpassable family companions.

Rosie and my granddaughter!

When Golden Retrievers mature, the males typically measure 23-24″ at the shoulder (withers) and weigh 75-80 lbs. Females are slightly smaller at 21 ½”-22 ½” at the withers and weigh about 60-65 lbs.

One of the characteristics of Goldens is their multi-length coat, which consists of a good undercoat during the colder months, with a longer, water-repellent outer coat with heavier feathering on the chest, tail, back of thighs and forelegs. The adult coat varies in shades of lustrous gold from cream to dark gold. Heideland’s Caledonia Rose of Cedar Ridge – Rosie – is a lovely cream girl!

  • Heidelaind® Poodles

    Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan

    Miniature and Toy Poodles

Heideland® poodles have completed their OFA/CHIC health testing moving into the year so that my contributions to the breed are without compromise. Big news on that horizon as we welcome the addition of Ch Glow Loki Tricks N Magic as a sire of future litters.

While many Heideland poodles do well in agility or sport performance, that energy direction is not my priority. In terms of character and intelligence our dogs are playful with an off switch. Healthy, balanced and resilient family companions with a great coat is the direction of our breeding program. I continue to have a keen interest in potential therapy and service dogs, but please be clear in your understanding that on top of temperament testing early on, there are many factors that contribute to whether a dog can successfully, and happily, fulfill those roles!

Responsible Breeders of Canada is part of the Paw Privileges Network, rewarding responsible breeders and owners for ethical, responsible breeding practices.
