Top 10 Dog-Friendly Cafés in Winnipeg
Winnipeg cafés that welcome dogs — Osborne Village, the Exchange, Wolseley and more.

Top 10 Dog Friendly Cafés in Winnipeg
Winnipeg is a very good city for dogs.
Not because somebody put a water bowl outside one restaurant and declared the entire city pet friendly.
Because Winnipeg gives you something much better.
Places where bringing your dog can actually become part of the day.
You can walk the Assiniboine River before stopping for coffee. Explore Saint Boniface and finish with handmade ice cream for you and a dog treat for them. Grab a latte beside an off leash park. Find a neighbourhood café where the staff already know that the person coming through the door may have four paws.
And Winnipeg's independent coffee scene deserves some attention of its own.
This city has excellent local roasters, tiny neighbourhood coffee shops, café restaurants, bakeries and some wonderfully strange combinations.
Coffee shop inside a bicycle store?
Absolutely.
Coffee and ice cream beside a dog park?
Obviously.
An ice creamery named after two Basset Hounds?
Winnipeg has that too.
For this PAW Privileges guide, we looked beyond whether a café simply serves coffee. We wanted places where the dog friendly part actually contributes to the experience, whether dogs are welcomed inside, invited onto the patio, provided with water and treats or there is a genuinely useful dog adventure immediately outside.
One important distinction: dog friendly does not always mean dogs are permitted indoors. Manitoba food service rules and individual business policies matter, so we have broken out the dog setup for every stop rather than leaving you guessing.
Coffee?
Leash?
Dog?
Let's go.
1. Colosimo Coffee Roasters, Henderson Highway
Best for: A proper Winnipeg coffee shop where your dog is genuinely part of the welcome
There are cafés that tolerate dogs.
And then there are cafés where somebody specifically mentions the dog when describing why they love the place.
Colosimo Coffee Roasters belongs in the second category.
Colosimo is a Winnipeg based specialty coffee roaster built around small batch roasting and a neighbourhood café experience. Its Henderson Highway location has developed exactly the kind of reputation we want for this list: good coffee, welcoming staff, somewhere you can linger rather than feeling pushed out the door and, importantly, a genuinely dog friendly atmosphere.
The coffee is the real thing.
Colosimo sources coffee internationally and roasts in small batches in Winnipeg, stamping its bags with roast dates rather than treating coffee beans as anonymous grocery store inventory.
For dog owners, though, the appeal goes beyond what is in the cup.
The Henderson location is repeatedly described as welcoming to dogs, with dog biscuits even mentioned as one of those small touches that tells you the business actually likes having four legged visitors around. Colosimo Coffee Roasters
That matters.
You are not standing outside holding the leash while somebody else runs in for your coffee.
You are having a coffee with your dog.
And that is exactly why Colosimo gets our number one spot.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 877 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2K 2L8
Phone: 204 414 2611
Website: Colosimo Coffee Roasters
Dog Policy: The Henderson café is described as dog friendly, with visitors specifically noting dogs being welcomed and dog biscuits available. Colosimo's own website also features customer feedback explicitly noting that dogs are welcome.
Coffee: Locally roasted specialty coffee, espresso drinks, drip coffee and beans to take home.
PAW Tip: A café welcoming dogs indoors does not mean every dog wants to be inside a café. If your dog becomes uncomfortable in close quarters, grab your coffee and turn the neighbourhood walk into the adventure instead.
Why we love it: This is what dog friendly should feel like. No gimmick required. Great local coffee and a dog that is actually welcome.
2. Yellow Derny Café, Old St. Vital
Best for: Coffee, dogs and one of Winnipeg's most interesting café concepts
A coffee shop inside a bicycle store.
We are already interested.
Add dogs?
Now we're staying.
Yellow Derny Café operates inside Woodcock Cycle Works on St. Mary's Road and describes itself as Winnipeg's first bicycle café.
It is a wonderfully odd combination until you think about it for approximately five seconds.
Cyclists like coffee.
People walking dogs like coffee.
People buying outdoor gear like coffee.
Essentially everybody likes coffee.
Carry on.
The café serves espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea and rotating specialty drinks inside the much larger cycling shop environment.
And dogs are part of the atmosphere.
Visitors specifically mention bringing their dogs inside, with water and treats available for four legged guests.
That makes Yellow Derny particularly useful outside traditional patio season.
Winnipeg is wonderful.
Winnipeg in January is also very committed to being Winnipeg.
Having an indoor stop where the dog can accompany you changes the equation considerably.
And even if you have absolutely no intention of buying a bicycle, wandering through a bike shop with a latte and your dog is considerably more interesting than another anonymous chain coffee stop.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 433 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2M 3K7
Phone: 204 594 0568
Website: Yellow Derny Café at Woodcock Cycle Works
Dog Policy: Dogs are welcomed, with visitors reporting water and treats available for furry guests.
Coffee: Espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea and rotating specialty beverages.
PAW Tip: Remember that you are sharing a working retail environment. Keep the leash short and do not allow your dog to investigate bicycles, merchandise or another customer's shopping bag.
Why we love it: Winnipeg's first bicycle café welcoming dogs is exactly the kind of local place PAW Privileges wants people to discover.
3. Magpies International Café, South Osborne
Best for: A small neighbourhood café where dogs fit right into the community atmosphere
Sometimes the best dog friendly places are not destinations trying to become famous for being dog friendly.
They are neighbourhood businesses where bringing the dog simply feels normal.
That is the appeal of Magpies International Cafe.
Located on Osborne Street in South Osborne, Magpies is a small community focused café serving espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea and baked treats.
The space is intimate.
The service is personal.
And multiple visitors specifically identify the café as dog friendly. Magpies International Cafe
This is not the stop for a giant elaborate brunch.
It is the stop for:
"We're walking the dog. Let's get coffee."
And those are often the places dog owners end up loving most.
Order a latte.
Try whatever baked good is calling your name.
Let the dog settle.
Talk to somebody.
Then keep exploring South Osborne.
No itinerary required.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 685 Osborne Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 2B8
Phone: 204 782 4064
Dog Policy: Magpies is repeatedly described by visitors as dog friendly. Magpies International Cafe
Coffee: Espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea and rotating specialty beverages.
Food: Baked goods and sweet treats rotate, so this is more coffee stop than full restaurant.
PAW Tip: Magpies is a smaller café. If another dog is already inside and either dog needs space, wait a few minutes rather than forcing a close interaction.
Why we love it: It feels local. It feels personal. And bringing the dog does not feel like an inconvenience.
4. Harrisons Coffee Co., Waterfront Drive
10
Best for: Coffee in the middle of an actual dog walk
This is where location changes everything.
Harrisons Coffee Co sits on Waterfront Drive in the East Exchange, directly across from Stephen Juba Park and close to the Red River.
That means you do not need to manufacture an excuse for bringing the dog.
You were already walking.
Tourism Winnipeg specifically describes dog walkers stopping at Harrisons' outdoor seating area for a caffeine break before continuing along the neighbourhood.
Exactly.
Harrisons is a Winnipeg specialty coffee company and roaster, serving espresso drinks and freshly roasted coffee from its Waterfront location.
Visitors with dogs have also reported being welcomed and finding water available outside for their dogs.
This is one of our favourite types of recommendation because the café and the dog adventure naturally fit together.
Walk the river.
Explore the Exchange District.
Stop for coffee.
Sit outside for a while.
Keep walking.
Your dog never has to understand why you drove twenty minutes just to sit at a café.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 106 270 Waterfront Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 0A6
Phone: 204 290 2402 for Harrisons Coffee Co.; Tourism Winnipeg also lists 204 949 9599 for the Waterfront location.
Website: Harrisons Coffee Co.
Dog Policy: The Waterfront location has a dog friendly outdoor setup, with dog walkers regularly using the seating and visitors reporting water being provided for dogs.
Coffee: Specialty coffee roasted by Harrisons, espresso drinks and signature beverages.
PAW Tip: Do not make Harrisons the destination. Make the Waterfront and Stephen Juba Park the destination and let coffee happen in the middle.
Why we love it: The best dog friendly café stops fit naturally into a walk. Harrisons absolutely does.
5. Fête Ice Cream & Coffee, Downtown
Best for: The dog who believes this entire list should actually be about them
Coffee.
Ice cream.
Dog park.
Pup Cone.
We could probably stop writing now.
Fête Ice Cream & Coffee sits at 300 Assiniboine Avenue immediately beside Bonnycastle Dog Park.
The business knows exactly what it has.
Its own website essentially summarizes the experience as ice cream, coffee and puppies, specifically highlighting its location beside the dog park.
And unlike cafés that simply benefit from being near dogs, Fête actually created something for them.
The current menu includes a Pup Cone for $1.50, consisting of a tiny scoop of ice cream with a dog biscuit.
There has even been a Doggie Wall of Fame for visiting pups. Tourism Winnipeg has highlighted Fête specifically as a post dog park stop where dogs can get their own pup cone.
For humans, Fête serves Canadian roasted coffee alongside house made premium ice cream, pastries, espresso drinks, tea and hot chocolate.
The important distinction is that Fête is best treated as a grab and go dog stop, not an indoor dog café. There is no traditional dog friendly patio setup. Get your order, then enjoy it outside or beside the dog park.
Frankly, your dog would probably prefer that anyway.
Plan Your Visit
Address: Unit B, 300 Assiniboine Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0T1
Phone: 204 942 7087
Website: Fête Ice Cream & Coffee
Dog Setup: Bonnycastle Dog Park is immediately beside Fête. Dogs should remain outside while you order, then you can enjoy your treats together outdoors.
Dog Treat: The current Pup Cone is a tiny scoop of ice cream topped with a dog biscuit.
Human Treat: House made premium ice cream, coffee, pastries and espresso drinks.
PAW Tip: Do the dog park before the Pup Cone. Exercise first, tiny ice cream celebration second.
Why we love it: Somebody built an ice cream and coffee shop beside a dog park and put a Pup Cone on the menu. We are not going to overthink this.
6. Dug & Betty's Ice Creamery, Saint Boniface
Best for: The dog who would like their own menu, thank you very much
There is a clue in the name.
Dug & Betty's Ice Creamery / Crèmerie de Glace was named after owner Fern Kirouac's cherished Basset Hounds, Dug and Betty, who remain the unofficial ambassadors of the business.
So yes.
Dogs are going to do pretty well here.
Located in the heart of Saint Boniface, Dug & Betty's makes small batch gourmet ice cream with flavours considerably more adventurous than your standard chocolate and vanilla.
The current operation combines ice cream with a casual café experience, and the outdoor patio welcomes well behaved dogs. Dog options have included pup cups and other dog friendly treats.
Tourism Winnipeg has also specifically recommended Dug & Betty's for dog owners, noting the dog inspired business and treats available for pups.
For humans?
This is where things get dangerous.
Small batch flavours have included everything from Strawberry Honey Balsamic Pepper to Sour Cherry with Dark Chocolate, Ube, Matcha and Coconut Chocolate Fudge Oreo.
Good luck choosing one.
Better plan another walk.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 309 Des Meurons Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2N4
Phone: 204 417 0026
Website: Dug & Betty's Ice Creamery
Dog Policy: Well behaved dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio. Dog friendly treat options are available.
Food: Small batch ice cream and desserts with additional café style food options.
PAW Tip: Ice cream treats should be just that: treats. If your dog has dairy sensitivity or dietary restrictions, ask what is in the dog option before ordering.
Why we love it: A Saint Boniface ice creamery named after two Basset Hounds was always going to understand the assignment.
7. Saintuary Bar & Café, Exchange District

Best for: Coffee now, cocktail later and a seriously stylish dog-friendly stop
Some coffee shops very clearly become something else when the sun goes down.
Saintuary Bar & Cafe embraces it.
Located on James Avenue in Winnipeg's Exchange District, Saintuary operates as a café during the day before transitioning toward cocktails, wine and evening social space.
That makes this one of the more interesting stops on our list.
Morning?
Coffee.
Afternoon?
Matcha.
Evening?
Cocktail.
Dog?
Reportedly welcome.
The café is regularly described as pet-friendly, with dogs welcomed into the casual daytime atmosphere. Saintuary Bar & Cafe
Saintuary is also particularly useful if you are exploring the Exchange District because it gives you a genuine independent café rather than forcing the dog adventure to revolve around a restaurant patio.
Walk the neighbourhood.
Look at the architecture.
Grab coffee.
Keep exploring.
That is how Winnipeg should be done.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 123 James Avenue, Unit 100, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 0N8
Website: Saintuary Bar & Café
Dog Policy: Saintuary is reported as pet-friendly and welcoming to dogs. Saintuary Bar & Cafe
Coffee: Specialty coffee, espresso drinks and matcha, with the concept expanding into cocktails and bar service later in the day.
PAW Tip: Evening café and bar environments can become considerably busier and louder than the morning version of the same space. For dogs, earlier is often better.
Why we love it: This is a genuinely cool Exchange District café that lets the dog be part of exploring the neighbourhood.
8. Little Sister Coffee Maker, River Avenue

Best for: Serious coffee in Osborne Village with your favourite walking companion
Now we get serious about coffee.
Little Sister Coffee Maker has become one of Winnipeg's best known independent specialty coffee names, with multiple locations across the city.
For this guide, we are choosing the original River Avenue location.
Why?
Because it puts you in Osborne Village, one of the easiest Winnipeg neighbourhoods to explore on foot, and the small outdoor setup makes a natural coffee stop during a dog walk.
Little Sister describes its purpose as bringing people together around thoughtfully sourced, expertly roasted and meticulously brewed coffee.
And the coffee deserves the attention.
This is not a novelty dog café.
This is somewhere you choose because you actually care what is in the cup.
The River Avenue location is small and tucked below street level, with outdoor seating at the front. Current business information also identifies pets as welcome.
That combination is enough for us.
Great coffee.
Osborne Village.
Dog.
Continue walking.
Plan Your Visit
Address: A 470 River Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0C8
Phone: 204 452 3835
Website: Little Sister Coffee Maker
Dog Policy: Current business information identifies pets as welcome. Because Little Sister operates several locations with different physical setups, confirm the specific dog arrangement if you intend to sit rather than simply use the outdoor River Avenue seating.
Coffee: Specialty espresso, filter coffee and carefully sourced beans.
PAW Tip: This is a compact urban café. A fixed leash is much easier than a retractable leash when people are moving in and out of a small entrance.
Why we love it: A dog friendly list should not require sacrificing excellent coffee. Little Sister makes sure you do not have to.
9. Bonnie Day, Wolseley
Best for: The dog-friendly café stop that accidentally becomes brunch
Some mornings call for coffee.
Some mornings call for coffee and something considerably more substantial.
That is when we head to Bonnie Day.
This Wolseley neighbourhood restaurant operates a daytime café seven days a week, with weekday and weekend café hours separate from its evening restaurant service.
The café menu goes well beyond pastries.
You can actually eat here.
Breakfast and lunch options, sandwiches, salads, soup and rotating desserts make Bonnie Day the stop for people who planned to get coffee and then realized nobody ate breakfast.
And the patio is lovely.
Tourism Winnipeg describes Bonnie Day's courtyard-style patio spilling onto Westminster Avenue beneath string lights and climbing greenery, while also noting that you will probably encounter some cute dogs at neighbouring tables.
Visitors likewise specifically describe the patio as dog friendly. Bonnie Day
This is less coffee shop and more proper café morning with your dog, which earns it an important place on the list.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 898 Westminster Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 1B5
Phone: 204 786 8411
Website: Bonnie Day
Dog Policy: Dogs are welcomed on the outdoor patio. Tourism Winnipeg highlights dogs as part of the patio atmosphere, and visitors specifically identify it as dog friendly.
Food: Full daytime café menu with breakfast and lunch dishes, sandwiches, soup, salads and desserts.
Coffee: Café service is available seven days a week, with weekday mornings starting at approximately 8 a.m. and weekends around 9 a.m.
PAW Tip: Wolseley is made for walking. Do the neighbourhood first and brunch second.
Why we love it: This is somewhere the humans would deliberately choose even without the dog. The fact that the dog can come too makes it considerably better.
10. Park Café, Assiniboine Park
Best for: Making coffee or brunch part of an entire Assiniboine Park dog day
We are finishing somewhere that proves location can matter as much as coffee.
Park Cafe sits inside Assiniboine Park's Qualico Family Centre overlooking the Riley Family Duck Pond.
That means before you even think about coffee, you have one of Winnipeg's great urban parks outside.
Walk.
Explore.
Let the dog sniff.
Then find the café.
Park Café serves all day breakfast and lunch, with a refreshed 2026 menu retaining favourites such as eggs Benedict, shakshuka and the Park Breakfast while adding newer options including rice bowls. The kitchen also incorporates local ingredients and seasonal produce grown at the Kitchen Garden at The Leaf.
And for dog owners, there is an important distinction.
Dogs are not permitted inside the café.
The patio, however, is dog-friendly when accessed from the park side, rather than walking the dog through the restaurant. Current local reports specifically confirm this arrangement.
That is perfectly fine.
You did not come to Assiniboine Park to sit indoors anyway.
Find the patio.
Look over the pond.
Have breakfast.
Then go back to exploring.
Plan Your Visit
Address: 330 Assiniboine Park Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3P 2N7
Phone: 204 927 6080
Website: Park Café at Assiniboine Park
Dog Policy: Dogs are not permitted inside Park Café. The outdoor patio can accommodate dogs when accessed directly from the park path.
Food: All-day breakfast and lunch, including eggs Benedict, shakshuka, sandwiches, bowls and other café dishes.
PAW Tip: This is one of those places where the café should be part of the adventure, not the entire adventure. Give your dog a proper Assiniboine Park walk first.
Why we love it: Few Winnipeg cafés can compete with having Assiniboine Park immediately outside the door.
A Winnipeg Dog Friendly Café Is Not Always an Indoor Dog Café
This distinction matters.
When we say dog friendly café, we are talking about places where visiting with your dog is genuinely practical and welcomed.
That can mean several different things.
At Colosimo or Yellow Derny, the experience may include dogs being welcomed into the space.
At Dug & Betty's or Bonnie Day, the dog friendly experience centres around the patio.
At Fête, the smartest option is completely different: grab your coffee and Pup Cone and enjoy them outside beside Bonnycastle Dog Park.
And at Park Café, the patio is accessible with your dog while the indoor restaurant remains off limits.
Those distinctions are important.
A PAW Privileges guide should help you know before you arrive, not leave you standing outside wondering whether the dog can come in.
What Makes a Café Actually Dog Friendly?
A water bowl is lovely.
A dog biscuit is even better.
But neither automatically makes somewhere a great place for your dog.
Think about the actual environment.
Is there enough room for your dog to lie down?
Is there shade?
Are people constantly stepping over them?
Are six unfamiliar dogs squeezed into a tiny space?
Is the music loud?
Is your dog actually enjoying themselves?
The dog-friendly café that everybody loves may be completely wrong for a dog who finds crowds stressful.
And a simple Waterfront coffee stop where you sit outside for fifteen minutes may be perfect.
Choose for the dog you have.
That is responsible dog-friendly travel.
Turn Coffee Into a Winnipeg Dog Adventure
This is where Winnipeg really shines.
Do not drive across the city, park outside a café, drink a coffee and drive somewhere else.
Connect the pieces.
Walk the Waterfront and stop at Harrisons.
Explore Osborne Village and grab Little Sister.
Walk through Wolseley before brunch at Bonnie Day.
Explore Saint Boniface before Dug & Betty's.
Let the dog have a proper run at Bonnycastle Dog Park and finish with a Fête Pup Cone.
Spend a morning wandering Assiniboine Park and stop at Park Café.
Suddenly the café is not the activity.
It is part of the adventure.
That is exactly what PAW Privileges is about.
A Quick Winnipeg Summer Safety Note
Winnipeg summers can become genuinely hot.
And the City of Winnipeg has an important rule dog owners need to know.
When temperatures reach 22°C or higher, Winnipeg's Responsible Pet Ownership By-law prohibits leaving a dog unattended in a vehicle. The same temperature threshold applies to cycling with a dog tethered to a bicycle or similar device.
So there is no:
"I'll just run inside for five minutes."
If the dog cannot come with you, somebody stays outside with them.
Period.
Hot pavement matters too.
Choose shade.
Carry water.
And remember that your iced latte does absolutely nothing for the dog lying on hot concrete beneath the table.
Their comfort is part of the plan.
Coffee Is Better With Four Paws
Your dog does not care whether the espresso was dialled in perfectly.
They do not understand small batch roasting.
They have absolutely no opinion about pour over technique.
Although they may develop a surprisingly strong opinion about Pup Cones.
What they understand is much simpler.
The leash came out.
You went somewhere together.
There were new streets to explore.
Somebody said hello.
There was water beneath the table.
Maybe a biscuit appeared.
And instead of waiting at home while you enjoyed Winnipeg, they were part of it.
That is why dog-friendly cafés matter.
Not because every outing needs to revolve around our dogs.
Because our dogs can be included in more of the life we are already living.
So walk first.
Find the coffee.
Order something good.
Make room beside the table.
And keep exploring Winnipeg together.
More paws. More places. More adventures.
That is coffee done right.
