Welcome Crumps’ Naturals to Paw Privileges!

Welcome Crumps’ Naturals to Paw Privileges! We’re overjoyed to welcome Crumps’ Naturals to the Paw Privileges family! Known for their dedication to crafting wholesome, all-natural pet treats, Crumps’ Naturals has become a trusted name…

Paw Privileges welcomed Crumps' Naturals to our community in January 2025, connecting the treat brand with our support for responsible breeders and their puppy families. The original announcement introduced the partnership and invited members to explore its treats and eligible offers.

Treats have a practical place in that relationship: rewarding a puppy for coming when called, helping with calm handling practice or making a short training session worthwhile. Choosing a suitable treat means considering its ingredients, size and calories alongside the individual dog. Here is how to turn a bag of treats into a useful part of everyday care.

Get to know the maker and the exact product

Crumps' Naturals describes a family business making treats since 2006. Its current company information identifies manufacturing in Mississauga, Ontario, and an additional facility in North Carolina serving its US growth. If country of manufacture matters to your purchase, check the actual package rather than assuming that every product and market has identical sourcing. Read the company's current manufacturing and ingredient commitments.

The range includes different textures and purposes. A tiny training reward, a larger liver fillet and a chewy sweet-potato slice are not the same serving. Compare the exact product with what you want to practise, how your dog eats and any dietary limits already in place.

Two examples from the current range

Freeze-Dried Beef Liver Mini Trainers: the maker lists one ingredient, North American beef liver. The small format is intended for training. It is still a treat, so account for the amount used during a session and avoid assuming that a single ingredient means an unlimited portion. Check the Mini Trainers product facts.

Sweet Potato Chews: the product page describes slices made from North American sweet potato. This provides a different ingredient and texture from a meat-based training bite. Check the size and chew suitability for your dog, supervise eating and follow the package instructions. Plant-based does not mean calorie-free or automatically appropriate for every dietary restriction. Read the Sweet Potato Chews information.

Crumps also sells larger Traditional Liver Fillets that the maker describes as breakable. If you divide a larger treat for training, count the total amount offered rather than counting each small piece as though it were an additional serving allowance.

Build a training session around the dog, not the bag

Choose one simple task and prepare a small measured portion before you start. For example, practise a few responses to the puppy's name in a quiet room, reward the response promptly and finish while the puppy is still interested. A kitchen scale or the product's serving information can help you avoid repeatedly refilling a pocket without noticing how much has been used.

Keep the pieces appropriate to the dog's mouth and eating style. A reward that takes a long time to chew may interrupt a sequence of short repetitions. A dog who gulps needs different supervision from one who carefully chews every piece. If food is not motivating at that moment, consider the setting, tiredness and the difficulty of the task before simply offering larger quantities.

Reward-based training can also use play, praise and access to things the dog enjoys. Food is one tool within clear, well-timed teaching. Choose a trainer who can explain a practical plan for your dog and help you recognise when to pause or simplify a session.

Count treats within the day's food

Many veterinary nutritionists recommend keeping treats to about 10% or less of daily calories so they do not displace a balanced diet. Individual medical or growth needs may call for a more specific plan. Cornell's nutrition guidance explains why extras add up.

For illustration, if a dog's agreed daily intake is 500 calories, a 10% ceiling would be 50 calories from all treats and extras combined. That includes a morning training session, a chew, a stuffed toy and anything another family member offers. This is arithmetic, not a feeding recommendation for a particular dog. Use the current package's calorie information to calculate the amount and ask the maker if it is unclear.

Questions to ask for a puppy or a sensitive dog

  • Does the full ingredient list fit the diet the puppy already eats?
  • Is the texture manageable for this puppy's size, teeth and eating style?
  • How will you keep track when several people use treats during the day?
  • Does a veterinary diet or food trial restrict what can be added?
  • What storage directions apply once the bag is opened?

Introduce a new treat thoughtfully and keep its packaging until you know it suits your dog. If you notice a problem, recording the product and amount is more useful than remembering only the flavour. A suspected food reaction or recurring digestive problem should be discussed with your veterinarian rather than managed through a succession of new treats.
